【Introduction】
In food processing, raw materials and additives are two inseparable elements. Food additive plays an indispensable role in processed food. The purpose of food affitives is to improve the appearance, properties, and quality of food, or for preservation, and convenience in food processing, transportation and storage. It can be either natural or man-made. The emergence of food additives has greatly promoted the development of the food industry and is known as the soul of the modern food industry. However, different countries have different regulations on appliance of food additives. It is very important for oversea companies to know if the food additive used in their products are allowed in China. If not allowed but important to the products, declaration of new food additives will be the best choice.

New food additives mainly include food additives that are not listed in approved food additives according to National Food Safety Standard, those not approved by National Health Commission or food additives that has expanded use. While how to distinguish the New food additive, and how to declare New food additives is what we need to know clearly.
